david sophia siegel's music
with el pulpo
the music: ... best of ... all the music ... full resume ... just kml! ...
El Pulpo
1999-2003
My role: Songwriter, Performer/Musician.
El Pulpo was a slightly kooky funk-rock band based in San Francisco that
musically aimed for somewhere between early Red Hot Chili Peppers and
early Talking Heads. I play guitar & do some singin'.
This batch of songs were recorded at Take Root Studios in San Francisco in 2003.
Soon after, Olive quit the band and that was that.
01 Pantalones En Fuego (music & lyrics by David Sophia Siegel & Olive Mitra)
02 The Sneaky (music & lyrics by Olive Mitra)
03 A Very Important Folk Song (written/improvised by David Sophia Siegel)
04 Little Yellow Jesus (music & lyrics by David Sophia Siegel & Olive Mitra)
05 Green Means Go (music & lyrics by David Sophia Siegel)
06 misc hidden track (led by Brian Gorman, with help from David & Olive)
This next batch was our shitty demo, recorded entirely live, I believe.
At some show or another.
01 Seafoam Green (by Otto Hauser & Olive Mitra)
02 The Stranger (by Olive Mitra)
03 Green Means Go (by David Sophia Siegel)
04 Pantalones En Fuego (by David Sophia Siegel and Olive Mitra)
05 Cake (by David Sophia Siegel and Olive Mitra)
06 Little Yellow Jesus (by David Sophia Siegel and Olive Mitra)
07 Glitter On The Urinal (by Olive Mitra)
08 Blown Away (By David Sophia Siegel)
09 It Goes To My Head (by David Sophia Siegel)
10 Electricity Ain't Free (by David Sophia Siegel)
11 Binge and Purge (by David Sophia Siegel)
And one more:
- Why Won't You Talk To Me In Public (by David Sophia Siegel)
When formed in 1999, El Pulpo had Scott Gagner on drums, but by the
time of these recordings Scott had moved on, and so the band consisted of
myself on guitar and vocals, Olive Mitra on bass and vocals, and Brian
Gorman on drums and occasional vocalizations.
